    The “National Youth Survey” was conducted by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat) in accordance with the Grant Agreement signed with UNICEF in July 2013, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia and UNFPA. The study aims to promote identification of the basic needs and problems faced by young people in Georgia as well as promote knowledge and evidence-based youth policy development.

    The Welfare Monitoring Survey (WMS) is a biennial longitudinal household survey covering all the regions of Georgia that are controlled by the Government. The results for the 2013 round are nationally representative, with 3,726 households having completed the questionnaire. The study examines the prevalence and distribution of issues such as consumption poverty, material deprivation, subjective poverty and social exclusion, and makes particular reference to the role of social transfers and the well-being of children.

    This is the first wide attempt of surveying the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene conditions at Public schools of Georgia. The survey was conducted in Autumn 2013 and is the component part of the wide initiative – Improvement of the Sanitation and Hygiene Conditions in Schools of Georgian. Herewith the survey results can be used as a primary baseline for the evaluation of the results and reached progress of the planned future interventions in Georgia. According to the results obtained in the frame of the survey, the situation existing in Georgia can be also compared to the situations in the other countries, as the data is collected according to the global monitoring and evaluation methodology for sanitary and hygiene conditions at schools, worked out by UNICEF and using correspondent standardized indicators and tools.
